Isham Randolph, son of William Randolph and Mary Isham, was born at Turkey Island January 1685/6. He married Jane Rogers, daughter of Charles Rogers and Jane Lilburne. See their family

Jane Rogers, daughter of Charles and Jane (Lilburne) Rogers, married Isham Randolph.
Isham secured patents to 28 acres in Goochland County in the James River in 1735, 3,000 acres on the north side of the James River in 1736, and 6,000 acres on both sides of Buffalo River in Amelia County in 1737. Isham took the oath of militia colonel 18 November 1740, and was a county justice (1730-37).
Isham represented Goochland County at a single session in the Virginia House of Burgesses (1736-40).
Both indentured to Randolph for four years, John Newland agreed to make 250 pair of “mens, womens, children, and Negro shoes,” and George Dudley to make 100,000 bricks to enclose a garden and pave a coach house, henhouse, mill house, and well house.
Isham died November 1742, age 56, according to an inscription on his tombstone, leaving a will in Goochland County that devised all his land in Goochland and Amelia counties to his wife, Jane, and confirmed his promise to pay Peter Jefferson £50 upon his marriage to his daughter Jane. His will spoke also of the estates of William and Elizabeth Lilburne of the Bishopric of Durham, due he and his wife (will dated 6 April 1741, recorded 21 Dec. 1742).

The epitaph in his tombstone is as follows.

He was the third son of William Randolphand Mary his wife.
The distinguishing qualities of theGentleman he possessed in aneminent degree: To justice Probity & honour so firmly attached That no view of secular interest orWorldly advantage, no discouraging
frowns of fortune could alter hissteady purpose of heart. By an easycompliance and obliging deportment he knew no enemy, but gained Manyfriends, thus in his life meriting anuniversal esteem. He died as universally lamented Nov’r, 1742 age 57 Gentle Reader go & do likewise

Jane sold her 28-acre island in the James River to Capt. Richard Mosby for 5 shillings 5 October 1744, and the 6,000-acre tract in Amelia County to William Randolph Jr. for £600 20 June 1745.
The will of Jane Randolph named children Isham Randolph, William Randolph, Thomas Randolph, Elizabeth Railey, Dorothea Woodson, Anne Pleasants, and Susanna Randolph (will dated 5 Dec. 1760, recorded 12 July 1761).

3› Thomas Isham Randolph [1764.2.3] (c.1728) married Jane Cary in 1768. They sold 900 acres in Cumberland County, which he inherited from his mother, 21 November 1771. The Commonwealth of Virginia escheated his 3,000-acre “Dungeness” estate 28 September 1779 as Randolph had remained a British citizen.
4› Thomas Randolph [1764.2.3.1] (20 April 1760 - 5 Nov. 1811) married first Mary Skipwith, second Catherine Lawrence. He was killed at the Battle of Tippecanoe.
4› Isham Randolph [1764.2.3.2] (20 April 1760 ) married Ann Randolph Coupland in 1795.
4› Capt. Archibald Cary Randolph [1764.2.3.3] (1769- 14 Nov. 1813) married Lucy Burwell 6 April 1797. He served during the War of 1812.

The 1776-will of the elder Lewis mentioned also his son Howell Lewis. Charles own will named sons Charles Lilburne, Isham, and daughters Mary Lewis, Jane wife of Charles Hudson, Elizabeth wife of Bennett Henderson, Anna Jefferson, Frances the wife of John Thomas, Mildred Lewis (will dated 27 April 1782, recorded 12 July 1782).

Railey was a resident of New Kent County when Charles Railey deeded him about 197 acres in Goochland County 18 October 1742. He was a tithable in Goochland County in 1747, and a vestryman of Southam Parish. The will of John Railey in Chesterfield County named wife, Elizabeth, seven sons and three daughters (will dated 10 Nov. 1778, recorded 7 May 1784 ).

4› James Railey [1764.2.6.8] (16 April 1762 ) married Ann Watkins, a daughter of Joseph Watkins, by 11 November 1793. James was dead by 14 February 1797 when the court granted Ann administration of his estate, and on 8 January 1798 the court appointed Martin Railey guardian to Elizabeth and Joseph. Ann and James Blankenship, whom she married 1797-98, were sued by Martin Railey 12 March 1798.

4› Martin Railey [1764.2.6.13] (27 Oct. 1764 ) married Elizabeth Mayo in Powhatan County 26 February (bond) 1794. He was dead by 1812 when guardian accounts were returned from wards, Elizabeth and Joseph Railey.
3› Dorothea Randolph [1764.2.7] (c.1732- 2 Feb. 1794 ) married John Woodson.
The births of nine children are in The Douglas Register. Yet Rev. Douglas notes “of Col. Jo. Woodson’s family I have baptized 12 and married 4, he is now dead Feb. 15 ‘90.” They were the parents of eleven known children. The missing child may have been Ann.
A very wealthy man, Woodson was a vestryman, magistrate, member of the Virginia House of Burgesses (1788-81), and was sheriff (1778-9) and county lieutenant (1779).

On 14 June 1759 Rev. William Douglas conducted the marriage of Ann Randolph of Goochland County and John Pleasants of Cumberland County. Although the marriage bond called her Anne Scott, Douglas called her Ann Randolph, a peculiar portrayal for a woman previously married. John was a son of John Pleasants and Margaret Jordan.

3› Susanna Randolph [1764.2.9] (25 Sept. 1738 ) married Carter Henry Harrison of “Clifton” in Cumberland County 9 November 1760. He petitioned the House of Delegates from Cumberland County in 1780 to reject a bill forbidding the use of depreciated currency in payment of debts.
He was in the French and Indian War and in the militia during the Revolution, a vestryman of Southam Parish until his resignation (1765-1769), and a land processioner in 1771. The Southam Parish Vestry permitted Carter Harrison and Nicholas Davies to build an addition on the north side of Ham Chapel for the use of their families in 1760.
Carter Harrison served in the Virginia House of Delegates (1782-87). The Encyclopedia of Virginia Biography devotes a topic to Harrison.
Carter, who was head of a household of 20 whites and 136 blacks in Cumberland County in 1782, left a will in Cumberland County (will dated 8 Oct. 1793, recorded 27 Jan. 1794).

Isham Randolph
son of William Randolph, of "Turkey Island," lived at "Dungeness," Goochland county. He succeeded Abraham Nicholas as adjutant general of the militia in 1738, and was burgess for Goochland in 1736-1740. He died in November, 1742, and was buried at Turkey Island, Henrico county. His daughter Jane married Colonel Peter Jefferson, father of Thomas Jefferson.

George Dudley labourer and Savant to Isham Randolph of the County of
Goochland for four years ending the 4 of February 1737/8. In
Sattisfaction for the time of Servitude due from sd Dudley he doth agree to
make for sd Randolph One Hundred Thousand Bricks and to set and burn them as
they ought to be for use, to enclose a garden with a double ditch of 300
feet square, to pave and pebble stones a coach-house, hen-house, mill-house,
and well-house, and to make for Richard Randolph 14,000 Bricks,

John Newland, cordwainer and indented servant to Isham Randolph, of the county of Goochland, for four years ending the 8th day of April 1737, in satisfaction for the time of servitude due from said Newland he did agree to make for said Randolph two hundred and fifty pair of mens, womens, children, and negroe shoes, and mend shoes, horse harness for a chariot and cart as occasion should require, till the shoes above mentioned should be made, and then the said Newland to be set free, reserving to himself his freedom dues, to wch agreemt we, the subscribers, desire the courts approbation, and pray that it may be recorded.

was acknowledged by the subscribers, Isham Randolph and John Newland, and being
