Martha was born in 1797 in Nash, North Carolina, USA.1 Martha's father was Mr Tucker and her mother was Elizabeth Denton Cooper. Her maternal grandparents were Marcome Cooper and Sarah Juliet Randolph. She had eight brothers and four sisters, named John, William Heath, Littleberry, Charles, Edward A, Abraham, Wortham, Joseph Hartsfield, Mary W, Margaret Elizabeth, Nancy Anne and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the thirteen children.-
