Sarah was born in 1757 in Wellington, Somerset, England. Sarah's father was Michael Stradling and her mother was Sarah Gill. Her paternal grandparents were Michael Stradling and Hannah Stradling. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Michael, William, Obadiah, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth. She was the second oldest of the seven children.-
