Mary Randolph 
Mary was born on August 9th, 1762 in Tuckahoe, Goochland, VA, USA.1 Mary's father was Thomas Mann Randolph and her mother was Anne Cary. Her paternal grandparents were William Randolph and Maria Judith Page; her maternal grandparents were Archibald Cary and Mary Randolph. She had six brothers and eight sisters, named Henry Cary, Thomas Mann Jr, William, Archibald Cary, John, George Washington, Elizabeth, Ann Cary, Virginia, Judith, Ann Cary, Jane Cary, Harriet and Virginia. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Thomas Mann II and Mary Jane. She died at the age of 65 on January 28th, 1828 in Arlington, VA, USA. She was buried in 1828 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington Co., VA.2 1 General Notes
Mary Randolph, a native of Chesterfield County and author of the first American regional cookbook, lived nearby at Presquile Plantation during the last two decades of the 18th century after her marriage to David Meade Randolph in 1782. The couple then moved to Richmond, where Mary Randolph's reputation as cook, hostess and entrepreneur flourished. They later moved to Washington, D.C. In 1824, she published The Virginia Housewife, an important collection of recipes and advice that has been reprinted many times since. In her book, Mary Randolph revealed not only her own culinary genius, but also the rich and diverse heritage of early American cuisine.
