Michael was born in 1817 in Rockingham Co., NC.1 Michael's father was Jeremiah "Jerry" Nickell and his mother was Polly. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Nickell and Elsa Fowler. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, Thomas Madison, Wilburn, Jeremiah, Ira May, Rachel and Amey.1 -
