Elizabeth was born in 1829. Elizabeth's father was William Garrand and her mother was Susan Elizabeth Peers. Her paternal grandparents were James Garrand and Elizabeth Mountjoy; her maternal grandparents were Valentine PEARCE and Nellie Orr. She had a brother and a sister, named William Mountjoy and Eleanor Orr. She was the youngest of the three children.General Notes

On June 7, 1855 when Elizabeth was 26, she married Dr. John A. LYLE, son of John LYLE, in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky.
