Nancy was born in 1816 in Nash Co., NC.1 Nancy's father was John D Cooper and her mother was Margaret (Peggy) White. Her paternal grandparents were Marcome Cooper and Sarah Juliet Randolph; her maternal grandparents were Littleberry White and Elizabeth Denton. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Charles Wesley, William H, David Edward, John V, Nancy W, Sarah J Sally, Polly, Millisie Lucy, Mary Berry Polly, Elizabeth White and Rhoda. She was the sixth oldest of the twelve children.-
