Charles was born on February 9th, 1866 in Griffin, Nash, N C.1 Charles' father was Neverson W Cooper and his mother was Nancy K. His paternal grandparents were George Cooper and Temperance Drake Cooper. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Burwel, Neverson, Frederick, John, Nancy, Sarah A and Martha. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
