Karl von Hessen-Philippsthal 
Karl was born in 1757. Karl's father was Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal and his mother was Ulrike Eleonor von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld. His paternal grandparents were Karl von Hessen-Philippsthal and Kathariene Christine von Sachsen-Eisenach; his maternal grandparents were Wilhelm von Hessen-Philippsthal-Barchfeld and Charlotte von Anhalt-Bernburg. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Wilhelm, Friedrich, Ludwig, Ernst Konstantin, Karoline, Friederike and Charlotte Amalie. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 36 in 1793.-
