Gerard Count was born about 1185 in Of, Zutphen, Gelderland, Netherlands.1 Gerard Count's father was Otto I Count von Gelre and his mother was Richardis Prinzessin von Bayern. His paternal grandparents were Hendrik Count Van Gelre and Agnes Von Arnstein; his maternal grandparents were Otto I (V) von Bayern and Agnes Countess von Looz & Rieneck. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Hendrik Count, Lodewijk Count, Aleid Countess, Margaretha Countess, Irmgard Countess and Mechteld Countess. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died on October 22nd, 1229.1 -
