Opal Leota was born on December 14th, 1891 in Haven, Reno, KS.1 Opal Leota's father was Robert O. Slayton and her mother was Hannah Harnden. Her paternal grandparents were Luther Slayton and Almina Preston. She had five brothers and a sister, named Almond Leon, Orin Giles, Otto Earl, Arthur Edson, Robert Colby and Sarah Edna. She was the youngest of the seven children.1 -
