Leeroy R. was born in 1861.1 Leeroy R.'s father was Z. Tavener Shelton and his mother was Zilphia Alice Higginbotham. His maternal grandparents were Charles Lewis Higginbotham and Elizabeth Back. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Samuel Bowes, Burnett I., Thomas M., Alvin L., Elizabeth E., Ida M., Ginney E., Nevada and Mary Juan.1 -
