Joan was born about 1272 in (Acre), Akko, Hazafon, Israel.  Joan's father was Edward Plantagenet and her mother was Eleanor Of Castile.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Plantagenet and Eleanor of Provence; her maternal grandparents were Ferdinand Alfonsez De Castile and Johanna De Dammartin. She had a brother and two sisters, named Edward, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had three half-brothers named John, Thomas and Edmund.  She died on April 23rd, 1307 in Clare, Suffolk, England.  She was buried on April 26th, 1307 in Austin Friars' Church, Clare, Suffolk, England.


Joan's first family with Gilbert De Clare

‌Joan and Gilbert were married in a religious ceremony in May 1290 in Westminster Abbey, London.  They had two daughters named Eleanore and Elizabeth.


Joan's second family with Ralph De Monthermer

‌Joan and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony in January 1297 in Akko, Hazafon, Israel.  They had a son named Thomas.
