Betsy was born in 1797 in NC. Betsy's father was Shubal York and her mother was Unknown. Her paternal grandparents were Semore York and Sylvania L Aldredge. She had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Barnaby, Jones, Shubel Jr., Patsy and Mary. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Isaac, Esther and Nancy.-
