James+ was born about 1538. James+'s father was Alexander+ Skene and his mother is Elizabeth+ Forbes. His paternal grandfather was Alexander+ Skene and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth+ Black; his maternal grandparents are Duncan+ Forbes and Christian+ Mercer. He was an only child.
