‌Richard Stokes and Adaline were married in a religious ceremony about 1863. They had four sons and three daughters, named Bluford, Charles W., John Henry, Albert, Mary E., Sarah Mandilla and Nora.

John Henry was born on August 2nd, 1868. He died due to diptheria--their son was a carrier. at the age of 57 on March 18th, 1926.
