James Wilder was born on October 10th, 1865 in Hutton Twp., Coles Co., IL. James Wilder's father was William Riley Rennels and his mother was Mary Jane Gilbert. His paternal grandparents were James+ Rennels and Mary+ Connelly. He had a brother and two sisters, named Simon Martin, Mandilla Catherine and Mary Alma. He was the youngest of the four children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Silas Emery, Elsworth, Ivory Franklin, William Walter, Child and Vieve May.
