Engelbert I Von was born in 1380 in Dillenbourg. Engelbert I Von's father was Johann I Von Nassau-Dillenburg and his mother was Marguerite De La Mark. His paternal grandparents were Otto II Von Nassau-Dillenburg and Adelheid Von Vianden; his maternal grandfather was Adolf II De La+ Mark and his maternal grandmother is Margareta Von+ Kleve.
