Engilbert I De La+ was born about 1220. Engilbert I De La+'s father was Adolf I Von+ Altena and his mother is Irmgard Von+ Geldern. His maternal grandfather was Otto I Von+ Geldern and his maternal grandmother is Richardis Von+ Wittelsbach. He had a sister named Adelheid De La. He was the younger of the two children.
