John+ was born about 1675 in St. Peter Parish, New Kent Co., VA or Scotland. John+'s father was James Johnston and his mother was Margaret+ Alexander. His paternal grandfather is Thomas+ Johnston and his paternal grandmother was Mary+ Irvine; his maternal grandparents were John II+ Alexander and Margaret+ Forbes. He had a brother named William. He was the younger of the two children. He died in 1716 in New Kent Co., VA.General Notes
