Ruth was born about 1750 in N. Ruth's father was Thomas J. Hunt and her mother was Mary Ann Beals. Her paternal grandparents are William Hunt and Mary Woolman; her maternal grandparents were John II+ Beals and Sarah+ Bowater. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Abner, Jacob, Isom, Mary, Sarah B., Jemima and Ann. She was the third oldest of the eight children.
