David W. was born on May 23rd, 1805 in Grayson, VA. David W.'s father was David Hoggatt and his mother was Dorcas Williams. His paternal grandparents were Anthony Hoggatt and Mary Stanley; his maternal grandparents were Richard Williams and Prudence Beals. He had a brother and two sisters, named Nathan, Ruth and Dorcas.
