Mahala was born about 1800 in NC. Mahala's father was Samuel Hobson and her mother was Judy Murphy. Her paternal grandparents were Jonathan William Hobson and Sarah Williams. She had four brothers and four sisters, named William L., Jefferson, Jackson, Joseph, Feriby, Ellender, Susannah M. and Miranda. She died before 1870.General Notes
