Jean I De was born about 1270. Jean I De's father is Guigues VI De Forez and his mother was Jeanne De Montfort. His paternal grandparents are Renaud I De Forez and Isabelle De Beaujeu; his maternal grandparents were Philippe II De+ Montfort and Jeanne De+ Levis. He had two sisters named Blanche De and Eleonore De. He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Louis II De, Beatrice De and Marguerite De.
