Thomas was born in Mount Joy Twp., Adams Co., PA. Thomas' father was Andrew Ashbaugh and his mother was Maria Artemesia Odessina. His paternal grandfather was Johann Heinrich Eschbach and his paternal grandmother is Maria Elizabetha Merck. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Adam, John, Henry, Andrew, Frederick, Alexander, William, Maria Magdalena, Elizabeth and Esther. He died in 1847 in Gettysburg, Adams Co., PA.General Notes
