Roger was born about 1155 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  Roger's father was Hugh de Mortimer and his mother was Maud de Meschines.  His paternal grandfather is Hugh Mortimer; his maternal grandfather was Earl William de Meschines of Cambridge and his maternal grandmother is Cecily de Rumilly. He had a brother named Robert.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-sister named Alice.  He died on June 24th, 1214 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  He was buried in June 1214 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.

‌Roger and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony about 1190 in Rutlandshire, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Ralph and Sined.
