Denise de was born about 1070 in Mortagne-au-Perche, Orne, Normandy, France.  Denise de's father was Robert Count De Mortaigne Earl of Cornwall and her mother was Matilda Maud de Montgomery.  Her paternal grandparents were Herluin de Conteville Viscount Conteville and Harlette De Falaise Countess of Mortaigne; her maternal grandparents were Roger II de Montgomery Earl of Arundel and Mabel Talvas Belesme Countess of Shrewsbury. She had a brother and three sisters, named William de, Agnes de Mortain, Emma de and Agnes de.  She was the second youngest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Miss de.  She died in 1090.1
