Agnes de Mortain was born about 1054 in Mortaigne,S-Mnch,France.  Agnes de Mortain's father was Robert Count De Mortaigne Earl of Cornwall and her mother was Matilda Maud de Montgomery.  Her paternal grandparents were Herluin de Conteville Viscount Conteville and Harlette De Falaise Countess of Mortaigne; her maternal grandparents were Roger II de Montgomery Earl of Arundel and Mabel Talvas Belesme Countess of Shrewsbury. She had a brother and three sisters, named William de, Emma de, Agnes de and Denise de.  She is the oldest of the five children. She has a half-sister named Miss de.
