William de was born in 1072 in Gernon Castle, Normandy, France.  William de's father was Ranulph II Of Bayeux Vicomte of Bayeux and his mother was Maud (Margaret) D' Avranches.  His paternal grandfather was Ranulf de Bayeux Vicomte Bayeux and his paternal grandmother is Alix of Normandy; his maternal grandparents were Richard  "Le Goz" Vicomte D'Avranches and Lady Emma de Conteville. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Ranulph III de, William, Geoffrey de, Robert de, Lord William, Ranulph Bayeux, Matilda Le, Agnes of and Helga.  He was the third oldest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers named Robert I Fitzharold de and John De.  He died about 1132 in Egremont, Cumberland, England.
