Her paternal grandparents were John Howard Duke of Norfolk and Catherine Mullins Duchess of Norfolk; her maternal grandparents are Hugh Tylney [Sir Knight] and Daughter Tailboys. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named William, Thomas, George, John, Richard, Henry, William, 1st Baron of Effingham, Catherine, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Anne, Agnes and Elizabeth, Countess of Sussex.
