Joan was born about 1290 in Of, Upholland, Lancashire, England. Joan's father was Robert de Holand Knight and her mother is Elizabeth de Salmesbury. Her paternal grandfather was Thurstan De Holand and her paternal grandmother is Miss De Kellet; her maternal grandfather is William De Salmesbury and her maternal grandmother was Avena (Avina) Notton. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Adam, William, Robert de, Alan, Elizabeth and Avena. She was the youngest of the seven children. She died after 1347.-
