John Hadley 
John was born on November 27th, 1804 in Guilford Co., North Caro.1 John's father was Jeremiah Hadley and his mother was Mary Hornaday. His paternal grandparents were Joshua Hadley and Ruth Lindley. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Jonathan, Elias, Enos, Uriah, Ruth, Ann, Jane and Orpha. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 58 on March 5th, 1863.1 General Notes

and Mary Hornaday; settled here in 1824. Married Aug. 12, 1824, in Butler Co., Ohio, to
Edith Carter, deceased; again, Aug. 18, 1839, to Mrs. Lydia Gunn, Rush Co., Ind., born
Nov. 1, 1808; eight children by first wife, one by second--Mordecai, d. May 28, 1855;
Mary Ann Hornaday, deceased; Nancy J. Harding, Jeremiah Watson, deceased; Derinda,
deceased; Telitha, Minerva J., Almond, Martha D. Branan (by second wife); Lydia Gunn
had two children by first husband--Emma J. Wier, b. Sept. 12, 1833, and John L., b.
March 16, 1837.
