Her paternal grandparents were Sir John Giffard Knight and Jane Hoord. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Edward, Humphrey, John, Robert, George, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Lucy, Cassandra, Anne and Mary. She is the sixth oldest of the twelve children. She has two half-sisters named Alice and Elizabeth.-
