Robert de Ferrers 1st Earl of Derby 
Robert de was born about 1062 in Tutbury Castle,Staffordshire,England and his baptism took place in Charterley, Staffordshire, England.1 2 Robert de's father was Sir Henry de Ferrers and his mother was Dame Berta Roberts. His paternal grandfather was Walchelin de Ferrers; his maternal grandfather is Engenulph Wn. Roberts. He had three brothers and two sisters, named William de, Henry de, Enguenulf, Amicea de and Emmeline de. He died in 1139 in of Derby, Derbyshire, England.2 General Notes

The senior family line lost the earldom of Derby, through the rebellion of Robert, the 8th earl, who was one of the most active of the discontented nobles arrayed against Henry III.
