John William was born on September 13th, 1888.1 John William's father was William Thomas Turner and his mother was Henrietta McClain Salmon. His maternal grandparents were John Anderson Salmon and Mary Ann Tutor. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Harvey Lee, Emmett, William B., T. V. R., Cora Irene, Georgia Ann, Mell Donie Victoria, Ollie Oleander, Mary Haywood and Barbara Ann. He is the third youngest of the eleven children.1 General Notes
