Burnette Skaggs

Burnette was born on February 12th, 1868 in Kentucky.¹ Burnette's father was John Calvin Skaggs and her mother was Arabelle Davis. Her paternal grandfather was William Brock Skaggs and her paternal grandmother is Nancy Wells; her maternal grandparents were Ezekial P. Davis and Jane Etherton. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Samuel Major, Henry Moody, Jefferson Henry, Luther Forster, Luther Foster, Malissa Jane, Caroline, Laura Green and Rachel Ermma. She was the second oldest of the ten children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named William Henry, John Alfred, James Dobson, Stephen Thomas and Mary Jane. She died at the age of 77 on February 20th, 1945 in LaRue Co., Kentucky. She was buried in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, LaRue Co., Kentucky.¹¹

‌Burnette and William Jefferson were married in a religious ceremony on July 13th, 1892 in Green Co., Kentucky.¹ They had six sons and two daughters, named Bert Hermit, Henry Dewey, Creed H., Lester Vanda, Otis, Robert, Bessie Bond and Lillie Maude.
