William Shorter

William was born in 1808.¹ William's father was John Shorter and his mother was Nancy Palmore. His paternal grandfather was James Archibald Shorter and his paternal grandmother is Lucy Childrey. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Francis, Booker Randolph, James, Woodson Arthur, George Washington, Thomas H., Sarah and Frances. He is the second oldest of the nine children. He has two half-brothers named William and Booker.
