George Washington Shorter 
George Washington was born in 1820 in Franklin Co., Virginia.1 George Washington's father was John Shorter and his mother was Nancy Palmore. His paternal grandfather was James Archibald Shorter and his paternal grandmother is Lucy Childrey. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Francis, William, Booker Randolph, James, Woodson Arthur, Thomas H., Sarah and Frances. He is the third youngest of the nine children.
