Celia was born on June 22nd, 1822.1 Celia's father was Gabriel C. Sams and her mother was Mary Polly Hampton. Her paternal grandfather was John Warren Sams and her paternal grandmother is Agnes Blackwell. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Anson B., John Henry, Ezekiel G., Robert B., Gabriel C.,Jr., Susannah, Jane, Elizabeth, Bridget, Margaret Elizabeth and Nancy M..
