John W was born on December 6th, 1861.1 John W's father was Meredith Pendley and his mother was Selina Frances Woodward. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Pendley and Nancy M Childress. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Richard F, George W, Everhardt G, Nancy C, Martha M and Virginia C. He was the third oldest of the seven children.1 -
