James R. Payne 
James R. was born in 1850 in Polk Co., Missouri.1 James R.'s father is Joel Payne and his mother was Mary Polly Huckaby. His paternal grandparents were Jubal Payne and Rhoady Basham. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas William, Benjamine F., Asa Mark, Nonnie, Elizabeth J., Alice, Amanda and Lila. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 79 in 1929.1 General Notes
