Velma Velette was born on December 12th, 1906 in Eastland Co., Near Okra, Texas.1 Velma Velette's father was John Bascom Johnson and her mother was Alice Clementine (Tiny) Basham. Her paternal grandparents are Jefferson Roman Johnson and Mary Jane Pearce; her maternal grandparents were Joseph P. Basham and Mary Jane Morris. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named Joseph Jolette, O. A. Montgomery, Fredrick Clinton, Thomas Alvin, J. C., Dossie, Living, Sibyl Ruth, Runney Lenis, Iola Lucille, Baby (Twin), Living and Living. She died at the age of 87 on June 6th, 1994 in Eastland, Eastland Co., Texas.
