I John Basham of the County of Franklin & State of Virginia knowing the
re to, appoint this to be my last will & Testament. I give to my wife Sus
an na Basham all my estate both real and personal of any sort or kind what
soe ver to be enjoyed by her as she pleases during her natural life and a
ft er her decease, I give to my friend John Turner of the County of Bedfo
rd f orty acres of land adjoining the land whereon my son Elijah Basham n
ow liv es to him and his heirs forever.
I also give to my son John Basham after the decease of my wife forty a
cr es of land adjoining the land whereon he now lives to him and his hei
rs fo rever.
I also give to my son Jonathan Basham eighty acres of land to inclu
de t he house and improvements whereon I now live after the death of my wi
fe to gether with all my stock of cattle, horse, hogs, and sheep to h
im & his he irs forever.
I also give to my son Elijah Basham forty acres of land after the dec
ea se of my wife adjoining the land on which he now lives to him and his h
ei rs forever and the balance of my estate after the death of my wi
fe my wi ll and desire is that the same may be equally divided betwe
en my childr en John Basham, Jonathan Basham, Elijah Basham, William Basha
m, and Jonath an Basham.
And lastly I appoint my sons John Basham and Elijah Basham to be Execu
to rs of this my last will and testament witness my hand & seal this 28
th d ay of January 1825. Signed Sealed & Delivered by the said

At a Court held for Franklin county at the Courthouse this 2nd day of O
ct ober 1826.
Last Will & Testament of John Basham deceased was exhibited into Cou
rt a nd proved by the oath of Elijah Paris and Thomas Medder two of the su
bscri bing witnesses and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Jo
hn Bash am and Elijah Basham, the Executors therein named who took the oa
th direct ed by law, and together with Sparred (?) Hale their security exe
cuted bo nd in the sum of one thousand dollars conditioned according a l
aw certific ate is granted therein for obtaining a Probate thereof in a
