Elizabeth was born on July 11th, 1778 in ,Amherst, Va.1 Elizabeth's father was Aaron Higginbotham and her mother was Nancy Croxton. Her paternal grandparents were Aaron Higginbotham and Clara Graves. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Absalom, Aaron, Sarah, Nancy, Clara Graves and Joannah Croxton. She was the oldest of the seven children.
