Hoyt Hicks was born on August 28th, 1905 in Coleman Co., Texas.1 Hoyt Hicks' father was Soloman Hoyt Hallford and his mother was Mary Jane May Williams. His paternal grandparents are Alfred Hallford and Anna Haggard; his maternal grandparents were William Pleasant, Jr. Williams and Sylvia Ann Roberts. He had a brother and two sisters, named Troy B., Dovie Gertrude and Dorothy May. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 64 on April 12th, 1970 in Big Spring, Howard Co., Texas. Hoyt H. Hallford, 64, died Sunday morning in a local hospital aft
er a lo ng illness. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Nalley-Pickle R
osewo od Chapel with Rev. Eldon H. Cook officiating. Burial will be in Tr
ini ty Memorial Pak.
Mr. Hallford was born August 28, 1905 in Coleman County and married Ger
tr ude Johnson November 11, 1932 in Lovington, NM. He came to Big Sp
ri ng in 1931 from Menard. He was a havy equipment operator for the Howa
rd C ounty Road department since 1949. He was a member of the Baptist Chu
rch.
Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Jim Kromroy, Miami, F
L, M rs. Ted Lancaster, Big Spring, Mrs. Vernon Howerton and Mrs. Bobby Ar
mstro ng, Byesville, OH, Mrs. Ruth Barrington, Harlingen, Mrs. Kenneth Hof
fma n, Houston, four sons, James Hallford, Fayetteville, NC, Nelson Hallf
or d, Billy Hallford and Hoyt Hallford all of Big Spring; his mothe
r, Mr s. R. A. Wallace of Phoenix, AZ, a brother Troy Hallford of Phoeni
x; a si ster, Mrs. Dovie Benton of Menard; two half-brothers and two-ha
lf sister s; 29 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
The body will be at home, 101 N. Cotttonwood, until shortly before t
he fu neral.
Pallbearers will be J. B. Burton, A. G. Mitchell, Aubrey Stand
ar d, L. A. Hiltbrunner, Sonny Busbee, and George Snowden.
