Hubert Vilender, Jr. Deming 
Hubert Vilender, Jr. was born on September 8th, 1867.1 Hubert Vilender, Jr.'s father was Hubert Vilender Deming and his mother was Susan H. Wigle. His paternal grandfather was Jonathan Deming and his paternal grandmother is Lois Whitney Rogers; his maternal grandparents were Windle Wigle and Hannah Hairsine. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Stark Windle, Orville Gurney, Eli Rogers, Grant Wilson, Barton Roy, Claire Claiborne, Lois Hannah, Nora Irene and Mille Eveline. He was the fifth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 76 on July 13th, 1944.1 General Notes

Hubert V. Deming, 76, president of the Deming Color and Varnish Co., w
id ely known as a Lake Erie yachtsman, died here last night after an ill
ne ss of several months. Among survivors are brothers Orville G. and Bart
on R ., Cleveland; Claire C., Port Clinton; and a sister, Miss Millie Demi

e, 18 49 Glenwood Avenue, last night after an illness of several months. M
r. Dem ing, a resident of Toledo 37 years, was born in Kingsville, Ont., a
nd rece ived his education in Windsor, Ont., schools.
As a young man he entered the paint and varnish field and for many y
ea rs was special railroad representative for the Detroit White Lead work
s, a nd the Acme White Lead & Color Co. In 1913 he organized the Deming C
ol or & Varnish Co. in Toledo and was active in its affairs until recentl
y. M r. Deming, called "the Skipper" by his friends since he skippered a c
hampi onship iceboat many years ago, also was a yachting and ice skating e
nthusi ast for many years. His last yacht, the Lady Lambton, received t
he Commodo re Ketchum trophy of the Toledo Yacht Club for class A boa
ts in 1925 at t he Put-In-Bay regatta.
In 1907 Mr. Deming married Miss Pearl Keen of Toledo who survives hi
m. Al so surviving are brothers, Orville G. and Barton R., Cleveland; E
li R., Oa kland, Calif., and Claire C., Port Clinton, and a sister, Miss M
illie Demi ng, Upper Sandusky. Services will be in the Bennett mortua
ry at 3 PM Satur day. The Rev. Arthur W. Olsen, pastor of First Unitari
an Church, of whi ch he was a member, will officiate. Burial will be priva
