Powhatan was born on May 25th, 1830 in Charlotte Co. , Virginia.1 Powhatan's father was James Wood Bouldin and his mother was Almeria Kennon Read. His paternal grandparents were Wood,Major Bouldin and Joanna Tyler. He had three brothers and a sister, named Robert Jouett, Edwin Edmunds, Louis Contesse and Harriet Ann. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, and also a half-sibling of unknown gender, named Samuel Goode, James, Thomas Tyler, Joanna Tyler, Elsie and D. M.. He died at the age of 66 on March 8th, 1897 in Danville, Virginia.1 General Notes
