Martha Ellen was born on December 21st, 1854 in Decatur Co., Indiana.1 Martha Ellen's father was Edward Beard and her mother was Elizabeth Snider. Her maternal grandparents were Asa Barton Snider and Ann Uley. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Asa, Moses S., Evan L., John Wesley, Josephus Sepus, Edward Francis, Calvin S., William D., Mahala and Mary Ellen. She died at the age of 46 on April 6th, 1901.1 General Notes
