William R. was born on May 24th, 1874 in Crawford Co., Arkansas.1 William R.'s father was Thomas Jefferson, Sr. Basham and his mother was Sarah Frances Renfro. His paternal grandparents were Solomon Basham and Elizabeth Coffey Marler. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named James Henry, Thomas Jefferson, Jr., Infant Male, Nora, Effie, Jessie, Anderson Oliver (Jack), Eliza Ann Belle, Rosetta May and Minnie Lee.
