James Henry Basham 
James Henry was born on November 29th, 1871 in Mountainburg, Crawford Co., Ark.1 James Henry's father was Thomas Jefferson, Sr. Basham and his mother was Sarah Frances Renfro. His paternal grandparents were Solomon Basham and Elizabeth Coffey Marler. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Thomas Jefferson, Jr., Infant Male, William R., Nora, Effie, Jessie, Anderson Oliver (Jack), Eliza Ann Belle, Rosetta May and Minnie Lee. He was the oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 85 on September 12th, 1957 in La Junta, Otero Co., Colorado.1 General Notes

Grandpa made trips from the homestead back to Missouri to see Aunt B
el le and Uncle Henry and also to Texas to see Uncle Oliver who stay
ed at Ele ctra. I don't know whether he influenced Uncle Henry to move o
ut he re in 1920 or not. If he did I wonder what argument he used for goo
dne ss knows we were all having a hard enough time. Uncle Henry had be
en livi ng on a small farm that belonged to the Moads. Dill and Jess a
nd Rosa L ee had married but he still had a good sized family, so I thi
nk they we re looking for more space. At any rate they moved into our dug
out the ye ar we went to New Mexico. We moved from there to the Hughes Pl
ace which w as a part of the Wilson Ranch. He moved from there to the Hug
hes Place w hich was a part of the Wilson Ranch. He brought with him Salli
e, Ruth, Web ster, Roy, and Fay. Jess came a little later with her fir
st baby. She h ad married a World War I veteran and Sally soon marri
ed a veteran who foll owed her from Missouri. Both girls went to La Jun
ta to live. The rest st ayed on at the ranch until the boys were grown, t
hen moved to Rocky Ford a nd La Junta. Roy married in Baca County so d
id not stay in La Junta but s ettled in Baca County where he farmed unt
il his sudden death a few years a go. Rosa Lee has died and Sally and Je
ss have lost their husbands. Di ll still lives in Missouri; the rest a
re in the Arkansas valley except Eve lyn, Roy's widow, is in Florida. Writ
